Avalon Waterways Panorama Suite

My husband and I just returned from an amazing 8days in Paris and the Normady Landing Beaches. His father had been at the beaches for D Day plus 1 and now that he is gone we wanted to see the area that changed his life forever. Being able to arrive in Paris and be whisked away by Avalon to a pre cruise hotel staging area so we could enjoy the city before the ship was ready was amazing. We were able to explore the Montparnasse area of Paris and I even worked up the courage to go to the the top of the Montparnasse Tower to check out the spectacular views of Paris. Later that afternoon we drove a few minutes to the Seine waterfront where out ship was waiting to take us out of the city and into the countryside. We chose Avalon as it was the little touches that make the difference for us. Sure you could go on a ship that is a little more plush but when it comes to the little touches, Avalon thinks big-like L'Occitane® products atop your bathroom's marble counter top and a well-stocked library in the espresso lounge (can you say fresh doughnuts every day YUM). Included wine with dinner is nice. The fact that it's from the same region as the view outside your window is even nicer. That's the kind of attention Avalon put into every detail. Everyday we had a certified guide showing us what each city had to hold. My husband was having some mobility issues so it was nice that they offered slower paced tours. For those who were more energetic they offered face paced tours as well as bike rentals right from the ship. Tony the cruise director could not have been nicer helping us plan our days using the excursions included in our cost as well as some added touches. The piece that was the best was our room. Sure, some other cruise lines offer a balcony but our ENTIRE room became our balcony. The beds face the water and the sliding glass door opened to an impressive 11feet. Words cannot describe the feeling of contentment we felt floating from one city to another while enjoying great food and amazing company.
